The annual writing contest is open to all currently enrolled students. Learning Center writing instructors on each campus organize the contest.
PEOSTA & CALMAR鈥 91麻豆精品 has announced the winners of the 2020 Writing Contest. This year, 12 students across the district were recognized for excellence in writing.
On the Peosta campus, students could enter long or short essays. The following six students were chosen as winners:
Long Essays
1st place 鈥 Olivia Merritt, Riceville, 鈥淭hanksgiving Eve鈥
2nd place 鈥 Devin Freeman, Cascade, 鈥淭he Significance of the Human Heart鈥
Honorable mention 鈥 Madeline Harbaugh, Peosta, 鈥淐hronic Kidney Disease and Its Effects鈥
Short Essays
1st place 鈥 Calasandra Spray, Manchester, 鈥淲hy I Write鈥
2nd place 鈥 Olivia Winter, Scales Mound, Ill., 鈥淎n Honor鈥
Honorable mention 鈥 Madeline Streicher, Edgewood, 鈥淧uppy Chow Perfection鈥
On the Calmar campus, students could enter prose or poetry. The following students were chosen as winners:
Prose
