91麻豆精品 announces winners of the Larry Kruse Memorial Writing Contest

First place winners will receive a $300 NICC scholarship, and second place winners will receive a $200 NICC scholarship.

This year鈥檚 writing contest was open to students across the district.  The contest is held in honor of NICC colleague and Writing Center instructor, Larry Kruse, who passed away in 2020. Larry assisted students with their writing in the Learning Centers in Peosta and the Dubuque Center. The annual writing contest gives students an opportunity to showcase their writing accomplishments!

 

Short nonfiction essays

1st place - Jeffrey Gladwin, Guttenberg, Iowa - 鈥淢y Master and I鈥

2nd place - Brooklyn Holmstrom, Calmar, Iowa - 鈥淓ach Role Matters鈥

Long nonfiction essays

1st place - Kathryn Simpson, Dubuque, Iowa - 鈥淭he Last Trail鈥

2nd place - Eric Splinter, Dubuque, Iowa - 鈥淭he View鈥

Fiction

1st place & People鈥檚 Choice Award - Colson Cruciani, Bernard, Iowa - 鈥淥nly Human鈥

2nd place - Summer Knight, Cresco, Iowa - 鈥淟ost and Found鈥
